IF humans have an impact on the Earth’s climate (personally, I think we do, but it’s a lot less than the impact volcanos have), and you are a fervent believer in Al Gore’s harrowing theory that WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE IF WE DON’T BUY CARBON CREDITS FROM HIM, will your Christmas-themed activities have less impact on the environment than mine?

When Brits refer to knickers are they just referring to panties or can bras be knickers too?

Having painted myself into a (pleasant) corner, I simply pay whatever the bill says to pay and raise my rates when simple arithematic says I need to.  So I’m totally oblivious to what’s going on in the health care premium world.  Then a friend wrote this in a posting on a site I visit:

“My company’s health insurance premiums are set to go up 30% next year, so that premiums for a perfectly healthy employee, their spouse and their child will now cost over $16,000/year.

“Do the math. The Federal Minumum wage is $7.25 x 40hrs/week x 52 weeks/year, that’s only $15,800, which is less than insurance premiums for a family of 3. If somebody works full time every day of the year and never takes a day off and never gets sick, they cannot even afford to pay the health insurance premiums, which is completely FUBAR!

“And, get this, according to our Health Insurance Broker, they’re about to go up 50% if the Federal Health Care package goes through, so if that happens, it’ll cost more like $24,000/year for insurance.

“If a family earns more than $18,000/year they are considered above the poverty line and cannot qualify for free medical insurance through the state.

“So health insurance will cost $6,000 more/year than what a family of 3 could live on above the poverty line. ”

Have any of you been given any inkling about the future of your monthly health coverage premiums?

Sarah Palin is the second coming of John Wayne.  I’m wondering, will Pres. Obama bow to her when she kicks his more and more unelectable behind?

Is Sarah Palin perfect?  Well, yes!  She’s a perfect human being, in the sense that humans can’t be Perfect, but can be the best person possible, given that they’re fallible.

Except for her Creationist, anti-abortionist, fundamentalist parts…

Nag, would you bow to the Emperor of Japan?

How about to an Emperor Penguin?

I was surprised how little traction this story got in the Main Stream Press.  When Clinton inclined his head slightly to this same Emperor (of Japan, not the penguin) there was a bit of an uproar and the White House, through various spokes-holes, made it clear that, no, the American President did NOT bow to the Emperor.

If Pres. Obama bowed to save American jobs, then I think it was okay.  There could be a lot of good reasons why he bowed!  It’s not like being respectful to the Emperor takes away any of what makes America great…
