disgustingly absurd Minnesota Senate race which he legitimately lost almost 8 months ago and secured himself a position in the annals (yes this is a republican toilet scandal joke) of political infamy as being a douchebag of Bertesque proportions.

I found this on a FreeList.org posting from June of 2008.  Most of you will be bored by this.  I found it interesting because of its completely honest appraisal of those times and people of whom she speaks, circa 1996 through 2000. The Wolfgang Puck reference actually is about Anthony Bourdain, who for a short period infested/inhabited the Room.

Her words, and only her words, are seen below: Read the rest of this entry »

Jackson funeral

TAGS: None

Anyone have any  information  on  if/when and where about  a  Michael Jackson  funeral.    If  there  is  one , and  I  am guessing  there will be , it is  likely  to  be a  doozy of  a  funeral  on a par with,  if  not  outdoing the massive  funeral of  Ronald  Reagan .

I  looked  a  bit  online  about  it  but   didn’t find  much  conclusive.

Oh  by  the  way  ,  big  surprize . its  looking  like jackson  was badly  hooked  on  prescription  drugs and  thats what  did   him  in (maybe ,  awaiting  the  toxicology  reports )

Memo to Uriah: Watch your ass

TAGS: None

Gov. Sanford is unable, it appears, to say:  “I banged her.  It was my decision.  I’ll live with the consequences.”  Yesterday, he compared himself to King David, saying that the King ”fell mightily, fell in very, very significant ways, but then picked up the pieces and built from there.”

A bit of Biblical refresher:  From his rooftop, David saw Bathsheba bathing, figured “Hey, what a babe,” ordered her to be brought to him, banged her, and she got pregnant.  She was married at the time to Uriah, who David sent into battle and specifically directed that he be placed in a spot where he was sure to be killed (and he was).  If there is a Uriah in Argentina, he may have a threat.

On the other hand, ol’ Mark may be a drama queen and unwilling to acknowledge that his dick wanders a bit, not unlike lots of other guys (including me, in the uncertain past.)

RIP again , Michael Jackson

Answers by unnamed governor at press conference . . .

Yes?  Well, yes, I did.  Repeatedly.

Bragging?  No, but the cat’s out of the bag, I banged her, I enjoyed it, and now I have to pay the piper at home.  You play, you pay.  Now can we talk about this budget cycle?

Immoral?  Most people would say so.  My wife certainly does and I’m having to look real hard at the bright side, like the couch in the office that the people have entrusted me with is OK for sleeping.  Also, I’m at work even earlier than normal.  Now, where we are getting the funding for the baby boomer teachers who are retiring under the old defined benefit system continues to be a problem, since the new defined contribution system . . . Huh?  Apologize?  Damn straight I’ve apologized.  I’ll spend the next 30 fucking years apologizing to my wife.  . . . Apologize to the people?  Why?  I didn’t bang her here and I didn’t bang her on company time.  She’s not a subordinate, she is a professional in her own right.  . . .

Of course I’m going to church next Sunday.  Duh.  Look, this whole affair thing wasn’t the smartest move I ever made, and I think I’ve proven that the ol’ Reverend’s advice may not be all that irrelevant.  Now, back to this financial crisis.  It’s related to employment, and I’ve been in contact with the Department of Energy concerning the effect on job retention . . . Others?  Who the hell made you John Wesley?  Tell you what, people, you guys make a list of everybody YOU’VE slept with, then I’ll make you the list for me.  How does THAT sound?  Who’s banging who makes a hell of a story, but tell that to the family that just lost both incomes because of issues that you people are too lazy and too stupid to report.

Ah Yes…..the Southern Baptist Convention is now in session.

Remember when the SBC mattered??  Then they inevitably flew apart into a million insane little shards.

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Revival in the Southern Baptist Convention will lead to a Great Commission Resurgence, SBC President Johnny Hunt asserted in his president’s address to the convention’s annual meeting.

Preaching from 2 Chronicles 7:12-16, Hunt noted revival is needed not only in the convention, but also in “the churches and in the hearts of our leaders, including your president.”

Hunt reported he has been fasting and praying with friends for months. “I want to see the Great Commission rise,” he said, noting that it is imperative for the SBC’s future.

He cited results of a recent study by LifeWay Research that indicates the membership of the SBC will drop from 16 million members to 7 million (actually 8.7 million according to a LifeWay press release).

I guess you can’t argue with that…..a drop of 50% membership certainly qualifies as a grand resurgence if you are a wackjob Republitard.  Right Berto?

another great politician weighs in on child hunger with the usual sympathy and compassion: humanitarianMissouri lawmaker on child hunger: ‘Hunger can be a positive motivator.’

In her June newsletter, State Rep. Cynthia Davis (R-MO) provided several “commentaries” to a press release from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services on a summer food program. The program provides “food during the summer for thousands of low-income Missouri children who rely on the school cafeteria for free or reduced-price meals during the regular school year.” Davis, who serves as the chairwoman of the Missouri House Special Standing Committee on Children and Families, questioned whether the program is “warranted,” and extolled the hidden benefits of child hunger:

Who’s buying dinner? Who is getting paid to serve the meal? Churches and other non-profits can do this at no cost to the taxpayer if it is warranted. [...] Bigger governmental programs take away our connectedness to the human family, our brotherhood and our need for one another. [...] Anyone under 18 can be eligible? Can’t they get a job during the summer by the time they are 16? Hunger can be a positive motivator. What is wrong with the idea of getting a job so you can get better meals? Tip: If you work for McDonald’s, they will feed you for free during your break. [...] It really is all about increasing government spending, which means an increase in taxes for us to buy more free lunches and breakfasts.

A report by Feeding America found that one in five Missouri children currently lives with hunger. Taking apart Davis’ other arguments, a St. Louis Post-Dispatch editorial noted that most of the summer feeding program sites are actually hosted by churches and that the program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, fed 3.7 million meals at a total cost of less than $9.5 million last summer — “a pretty good use of federal money.” (HT: DailyKos diarist Dem Beans)
