After 42 years, the Saints not only went to the Superbowl, but they won it.  It’s a wonder New Orleans hasn’t imploded today from the celebration :-)

Abstinence- in case you hadn’t heard

Posted in: General | Comments (2)

Telling kids (young teenagers) to wait seems to work.  Read that first sentence.  Twice.  And, if parents tell their children to wait, it apparently has even greater effect than if the message is only delivered at school.  As reported on ABC News the abstinence group was not given moral/religious lessons about waiting to have sex, but were told that sex is serious business and that they should wait to make the decision to have it (paraphrased).  This beat out health-promotion classes. (Personally, I am all for delivering the facts- and contraception if necessary- but also telling them that early sexual activity is not a goal that they should strive to reach.)  I must comment that this was probably a very unexpected finding which is likely why it is making the news.

I have also concluded reading Al Frankens 3rd (?) book

called The Truth (and jokes).  It was quite interesting.  I had no idea what a really cheap Enronish crook abramoff really was.  Oddly enough I always gave Ralph Reed a pass for being in a corner office of ENRON when the whole scheme crumbled….but after finding Reed neck deep with Abramoff in the SAME sort of sleazy conman activity again I have to revise that opinion and conclude Reed really is just a crooked amoral sociopath.  Strangely, just as with ENRON, it was their sociopathic bragging about their crimes which brought them down.  While Jack Abramoff (his nickname really was apparently “abraham Jackoff”) was conning an indian tribe out of something like 4 million dollars he was writing emails laughing about it and calling them “those monkeys”.

There are about 4 different revelation of this magnitude (all widely divergent) in this book.  There’s the detailed psychiatric studies conducted by the republicans to sort out how to precisely use 9/11 to frighten people.  Abramoff.  The abramoff related forced abortions and sexual slavery  (also just plain old slavery) the republicans protected and in fact lauded in the Marianis Islands (this is a US territory…meaning these slaves and forced prostitutes are american citizens).  And also a great account of how when Giulliani claimed at the RNC that on 9/11 he grabbed the arm of (some clown) and said “Thank God George Bush is President” , Al Franken actually grabbed the arm of his editor and said “He made that up”.  And then of course he proves it was made up.

It really is a quite interesting read.

I have concluded reading

George Tenets book “At The Center Of The Storm” or some such hogwash.  It was mediocre.  He came across as making excuses.  Among the interesting points:

He did in fact say “This was Bin Ladin” after the first plane hit on 9/11.  He did not resume reading My Pet Goat and what’s more he did not resume reading My Pet Goat for 7 ridiculous minutes after the SECOND plane hit.

The whole “slam dunk” quote was a Republican propaganda op.

The Chimp was in fact personally verbally briefed by the CIA  with the specific information’Bin Ladin is going to attack buildings by flying hijacked planes into them’.  The Chimp then went on vacation and allowed 9/11 to occur through his incompetence.

The now dead king of (?) (Queen Noors hubby) was a bonafide bad ass who offered to send his army door to door in either afghanistan or iraq with the sole purpose of tracking down every last member of al quada and killing them.  The Chimp nixed this idea.

There’s more…but seriously what’s the likelihood any of you would internalize any of this?

Another catholic head of the CIA was (was it Casey?).  The guy who escaped indictment only by dying of cancer…..  I would say Catholics do not make good directors of the CIA.  The apparently also REALLY suck at being supreme court justices.

AC/DC FINALLY Wins A Grammy

Posted in: General | Comments (5)

My boys won the first Grammy of their nearly 40 year career.  Never mind that Back In Black is one of the biggest selling albums of all time - 2nd only to Thriller in overall sales world wide.  And in typical AC/DC fashion - they expressed what they think of the people at the Grammies by simply not showing up to accept the award.  AC/DC has long been clear that they only opinion that matters to them is that of their fans - which is why they’ve been around for 37 years now.
